Never tickle a sleeping dragon
Anonymous asked: How do you submit a Latin student problem to you guys?
Just use the ask box :)
Anonymous asked: perhaps "nolite" instead of noli, i feel as though DFTBA is a message to everyone so?
I thought about that to. It’s definitely addressed to everyone when, for example, you just see it on a poster or something. But when John or Hank say it at the end of a video, or you say it to a friend, it’s (at least mostly) to just that one person. But you’re right, use nolite to pluralize it.
Google Translate being cute
If you translate “dead language” from English into Latin, the result is “gaudeam.”
Which translates to: “I rejoice”
Anonymous asked: How would you say "don't forget to be awesome" in lingua latina? I'm sure many nerdfighters are curious to have a good translation :)
Oh what a good question! Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, everyone!
I’d say: Noli oblivisci mirabilis esse.
What do you guys think? -Annie
We have an important mission! I received the following message from a lovely Latin nerd. Can we help her out?
“I really need to ship some ancient guys, but i can’t choose! Can you tell me some of your favorite ships and why you love them?”
Anonymous asked: Just started taking Latin, so I'm a bit ignorant at the moment, but are the words for book and children the same?
No, it’s just very confusing.
Liber is the word for “book,” so you’d expect the plural liberi to be “books.” But no, liberi means “children” and libros means “books.” To make matters worse, there is no singular for liberi because the word “child” is translated as puer or puella or something of the sort.
Does that help?
Your mom is a dead language!
